NEECA HORSE SHOW
Felton Field, Barre
July 27, 2008

This will be NEECA’s third year hosting one of the four shows that Barre Riding and Driving Club holds throughout the summer.  BRDC’s
show series is a wonderful place to start a showing career for you and your horse, in a relaxed atmosphere, among friends and family.
Even if you are not showing, Felton Field is a great place to bring your family and watch the festivities, have lunch, shop, or volunteer.  For
more information about BRDC, visit their website www.barreridingdrivingclub.com.

The NEECA Show will be held on Sunday, July 27, starting at 9:00 am, at Felton Field, in Barre, MA.   We have a terrific lineup of judges this
year with Mr. Ed Golembeski from Gill, MA in Ring 1, Ms. Pinnie Sears from Montague, MA in Ring 2, and Ms. Jean McCurdy judging the Trail
Classes.

Forty-six classes will be divided between two rings and a trail course.  With the diverse number of classes being offered there is something
for everyone.  Divisions are: Lead Line, Walk-Trot 11 & Under Open, Walk-Trot 12 – 17 Open, Walk-Trot Adult Open, Green Horse Walk Trot
Open, Sr. Horse Open, Open Junior English, Open English and Western, Short Stirrup, and Open Hunter.  Feature classes are the Barre
Mini- Prix jumping class (awarding cash prizes) and the American Hunter Jumper/Dover Saddlery Junior Hunter Challenge Class.  New
this year will be a demonstration ride of the AHJF/Dover Jr Hunter Challenge in Ring 2 during the lunch break, hopefully it will entice riders
to enter once they observe how easy it is.  BRDC has also brought back the Costume Class and the Pairs Class that will be held during the
lunch break in Ring 1.

Horse show entry form, and list of classes, will be posted on this website soon.  The cost of a class is $7.00, Championship classes are
$9.00, and the Barre Mini-Prix is $15.00.  There is a cost savings by sending your entries in before Thursday, July 24, 2008. Entries received
after that date will be charged an additional $10.00.  You can mail them to our Show Secretary Ms. Gail Krutka, 70 Lockes Village Rd.,
Wendell, MA 01379.  Gail’s email address is greyfox_3579@yahoo.com, and phone number is 978.544.6362.

We will be on the look out for that special recipient of the Mass Horse Magazine Junior Horsemanship Award.  Stephanie Sanders-Ferris,
Editor, offers this award to the chosen child under 18 years of age that best exemplifies good sportsmanship and horsemanship.  For
more information about Mass Horse Magazine, visit www.mahorse.com.

As with all of our events we try to help other organizations that help us, and this event is no exception.  Bay State Equine Rescue will again
“feed and water” everyone at the concession stand.  Plan to eat at the show and help this wonderful organization help horses in need.  To

Volunteers for this event are a crucial part of its success.  Jobs can be broken down by morning and afternoon sessions.  Saturday
afternoon pre-show setup, and Sunday we will need people for the secretary booth, the awards tent, ribbon runners, gate-keepers, ring
stewards working with the judges, ring crews for the jumping course and the trail course.  If you would like to help out we would love to have
your support – there is a job for everyone J Call Marty Arsenault at 978.544.9944 or email martyarsenault@hotmail.com.   Don’t forget….
volunteers at all NEECA events can earn yearly memberships, and tickets to NEECA events.

Ms. Renee Goodwin of Mane Impressions Digital Photography located in Sutton, MA will be on hand to take pictures at the NEECA show..
To learn more about Renee contact  maneimpressions@yahoo.com.

Melissa Mallett from Pogo Pony Gifts and Tack from Athol, MA will be on hand for you shopping needs.

This horse show is an important opportunity to raise money for the NEECA treasury.  You will find a NEECA Horse Show Sponsorship Form
on the website, and on page 6 of this newsletter.  Please take a minute to review it, call me if you have any questions about it, then you can
make a copy of it to give to a sponsor.  Do you know that if every one of our two hundred members obtained at least one $15.00 sponsor –
the total is an unbelievable $3,000.00.  How easy is that?  And wait…to go along with it, new this year, for an additional $10.00 ($25.00 total)
along with the class sponsor announcement the day of the show, your sponsor can have their business card size ad (larger ad size
available) in the NEW… NEECA Directory of Services that will be distributed at the NEECA Fall Social.  This directory will also be included in
all new NEECA membership packets for 2009.  And wait …another important fact…NEECA members who collect the most money from
horse show sponsorships (totaling over $1,000.00) will have their name entered into a special drawing for the chance to win “two tickets” to
the NEECA Fall Social and a NEECA Membership for the following year…that’s a $75.00 value.

With your help in obtaining class sponsors, we can make this the best fundraising show ever!

Happy Summer everyone,
